Carterton Eco Day

Green groups and volunteers will descend on the Coop store in Carterton on Thursday (18 August) to share sustainable living tips as part of an Eco Day initiative organised by Oxfordshire Waste Partnership (OWP) and Midcounties Coop.
Master Composter volunteers, community groups and council recycling officers will be joined by an interactive energy trailer and a live cooking demonstration. People will be able to get advice, walk away with information packs and free Love Food Hate Waste recipe books as well as sampling tasty treats inspired by commonly wasted foods.
Shabaz Hussain is membership coordinator for Midcounties Coop who has helped organise the event. He says: “It’s important for us to support our members and the wider community and this event is a great way to give something back.”
Lorraine Lindsay-Gale is chairman of OWP and adds: “It’s fantastic that so many organisations can get together to help others. The focus of the event is sustainability, but with all the advice helping people to save money too, there’s never been a better time to find out more.”
The event will be held outside the front of the store from 11am to 2pm.
